cold start racing idle

I have a 1992 with a 3.4 liter. on cold start up the engine race to 3500 rpm. after it reaches operating temp it idles normally. I have replaced the ICM,(three times) The EGR valve and still have same results. any tips, hints, or help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanx, PAUL

Re: cold start racing idle

check the lower intake gaskets for vacuum leaks by lightly spraying small bursts of carb cleaner around the seam between the intake and heads. If doing so causes the idle to change, you need new intake gaskets.
