clear corners?

has anyone tried pulling out the reflectors in the corner of the headlight housings for clear corners, on 2003+ headlights? i know some people have done it and i've talked to a guy and he told me what to do, but everytime i try i cant pry the damn two pieces apart... and i dont want to t crack it... is there any special tricks to it? thanks.

Re: clear corners?

Totally off the subject here, what did your center console swap entail?

Re: clear corners?

it entailed a center console. pull out the front two seats first, pull out the middle jump seat, throw on the center console, and bolt the front two seats back. it was fairly simple. tools needed: a 14mm deep sockect wrench, and your hands.

Re: clear corners?

Oh ok...I thought maybe you had replaced an existing console with a better one. I'll be keeping an eye on the thread for the clear corners answer!

Thanks.

Re: clear corners?

ya i tried slicing the rubber seal with an x-acto knife but i still couldn't pry it apart. maybe if i heated it would work. i just wish there was an easier way than to go through all that trouble.

Re: clear corners?

Just heat it up and take a flathead screwdriver and pry it open. Dont be scared it wont break. You may hear a cracking noise but that only means ur getting closer to opening it.

Re: clear corners?

I did some searching and I'm surprised clear corners haven't come out yet. I would honestly just wait. It'll be a lot cheaper than if you have to replace the OEM units.

Re: clear corners?

On a few other forums they heat up the unit in the oven and then they cut them open.

The problem is then putting new sealant in and not getting it on everything.......

Re: clear corners?

well they can't just come out with clear corners because the reflectors are built into the entire housings... unless they come out with new headlight housings without the reflectors in them, which will probably cost alot.

how long should they be heated in the oven? is it bad for the lights?

and as for the sealant... just use some black rubber silicone before sticking the two pieces back together... and let em dry, i think.

Re: clear corners?

o6z71,

When you get done install the chrome covered orange lights to remove all the orange i nthe lower lenses. The chrome will still be orange when lit but clears out the lens area.

Tell us how long it took you after you are done.

Re: clear corners?

For those of you with 'o3 and newer have you ever wished the gap between the bumper and the grille/fender was less? Do a search in that same forum and they have a decent description of how to raise the bumper up.
