power source help?

i just installed a custom PA system in my truck and right now its powered off the cigarette lighter adapter, just needed to see if it worked properly. now i want to use the permanent power wires but i need a 12volt source... where do i find this? there is one twisted pair of wires, a black and a red, and the ends are already stripped... how do i connect this to a constant power source? where is it located? i need this information in great deal because i don't know anything about wiring and all that stuff. thanks.

Re: power source help?

You can hook up the red wire to the same place your remote wire for your amp is coming from

Re: power source help?

ya i thought of that but i dont have access to my amp because of the backseat, and i dont want to have to pull it out again (pain in the ass). and i need a constant course, as in one that will give power to it at all times, not just when the key is turned with the battery on. any other ideas? thanks.

Re: power source help?

Why don't you just run a wire through the firewall from the Engine Compartment off of your Power Center on the Driverside of the truck near the Electrical Center?

Then you would have a constant power wire you could use for anything.

Re: power source help?

chuck idea will work (THAT IS THE BEST WAY!!!!) but, if you don't want to go through the fire wall you can pull the fuse out of your hazard light stick the red wire in then plug the fuse back in!!!!

Re: power source help?

Pull the Fuse panel off on the driver side door, when you open it you will see it, look on the back the fuse panel they will have a diagram is on there should be lower right hand side. The ground will be any screw under your dash that is screwed into metal.
