Remote Starter
My 95 has had this problem since I got it 3 months ago: Sometimes when I turn the key, nothing happens - like no power to the starter. However, if I use the power lock on the remote to unlock and lock the doors, then the starter will work. Yesterday I could not get the starter to turn over no matter what I did, so I used the remote starter. The engine started but with a whirring sound, sort of like the starter was still engaged. I used the key to try to switch the engine off, but could not - it kept running. This kept on for about 2 minutes then there was a big clunk and the engine died. I could not get it restarted. Finally I ran a wire from the starter so I could get + power to start, which worked, I could get it to run, but it would not start with the key. Last evening I turned the key, and surprise!! the starter engaged and the engine started as normal. Anyone has any ideas what's wrong?? Where is the remote starter unit located?? Can I disable it?? could it be getting stuck??
Thanks. |

Re: Remote Starter
If your remote starter is factory installed. I'm not sure where it would be located. If it's a after market remote starter they are normally mounted under the dash on the drivers side. I'm almost 100% this information is as detailed as you wanted, but I wanted to share my thoughts.....

Re: Remote Starter
Sounds like your starter itself is bad and not the remote start. All that a remote start does is mimic your key. Now, it could keep the starter engaged if it can't read a tach signal or if it was installed to use voltage sensing.
