new engine *pics*

my other thread about the ca swap results in this thread.. i'm getting the old ka, which is in great shape. tonight, i put my act clutch on and took a look at the cams.. everything is looking good, just waiting for the tax refund and work will start!

flywheel looks like it was a little burned.. i'll have it machined by the time it goes in my engine bay

engine with new clutch on..

front of engine

and finally, me slaving away in the corner while the others actually work on the project we started...

as you can see, the cams look great.. maybe the pictures don't do them justice but they're very clean, no scuffs or anything..

like the other thread, i'll add more pics next time i'm out there.. ka to ka swap should start very soon..

Re: new engine *pics*

ok well to answer this, i'm gonna have to explain what my new plan is.

1) swap engines (new ka into current car)
2) drive that car till i find another 240 (going to buy a coupe)
3) build ka from hatch and put it in coupe
4) once coupe is drivable, sell hatch with new engine
5) use money from hatch sale to buy whatever else i want for the coupe, including a silvia conversion
6) have a ka-t with silvia conversion

i don't think i've ever seen a coupe with ka-t and silvia conversion, so i thought it might be a cool job.. since we have a garage to work in, its gonna be easier to get shit done. its all starting with the swap, which we'll be doing before it goes on the road (sometime in april)

not much is wrong with my old ka, maybe a leaky head gasket.. i think it could definitely run a little better, so its gonna be taken apart and i'll have the whole thing cleaned (port.polish) and whatever else needs to be done

this just seems a lot more simple than trying to earn money for a ka-t.. i'll get over $4000 for the hatch so that money will go right to the new project.. not to mention money i make over the summer

Re: new engine *pics*

well maybe its catching on.. i just learned that chuki is working on the same thing.. GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!!

i think the only car the silvia conversion works on is the coupe. thats my opinion. if i liked it on the hatch then my whole plan would be completely different. i love the look of the hatch equally as much as a coupe with a silvia front end

Thats exactly what i wanna do minus the silvia conversion. I want to take my KA out, put another one in and sell the car for about 3800$ and then use that plus the other 2000$ i already have to start a KA-t project...

Re: new engine *pics*

an $8000 debt and being a paramedic student isn't exactly the best position to be in if you want to build a car.. i've got a few small parts i'll need for the ka-t (everything for fuel except injectors), clutch, mafs.. its not too far away.. especially if i sell my hatch..
and sideways, i wouldn't sell my hatch to you, let alone trade it.. its gonna rust out within the next year or two.. i wouldn't want to sell it to anybody i know.. my target is a 16 year old who just started to drive and saw the newest fast and the furious movie (late july 2006).. they'll pay thousands for what is worth very little. but at the same time i do have suspension, brakes and brand spankin new tires on it.. so we'll see what i include and exclude. bottom line is that i'm gonna sell it to some kid who i know will wreck it.

as for the silvia conversion, i've got 3 quotes, between $900 and $1500 canadian. one of them is in california so i don't think i'll be buying from there. i'd rather buy from montreal (2 hours away) and throw it in the back of my buddy's pickup truck to save shipping.. so i'm in contact with a few companies who will be getting their shipments in by the end of the month.. and i'm getting my taxes back by the end of the month

put 2 and 2 together boys and girls!
