Re: Shift Kit

combined with your retuned PCM, a shift kit may make shifts too firm for your lady friends taste. It's all subjective, because each person is different. Retuned PCM's increase trans line pressure, and change the shift points, where most shift kits do the same mechanically, rather than electronically.

Re: Shift Kit

The biggest problem with a shift kit applied at the valve body like a Transgo is it is not a cost effective modification for the little amount of performance increase. To install one is a PITA. If all you do is drag race it might be worthwhile.

what about the stiffer springs that you can get to go in the accumulator? they firm up shift and it's very easy to get to/replace those springs...

Good point and that is true. Wasn't he already complaining about performance shift. Tranny mods are great for the strip but not for overall driveability on the street. Just my two cents.

Plus the shock loads generated by these modifications can stretch the reliability of an already shaky trans.

Quite true my friend. Probably a good way to take out the clutch splines which are shaky on both the 4T65E and HD versions.

Re: Shift Kit

I've got a transgo shift kit in my GP. Mainly for the 1-2 and 2-3 shift timing. The kit really helps out those crappy soft long shifts. You can just install those springs and save the rest of the kit for they day when you overhaul it.
