why a del sol?

ok i have an 89 hatch and ive been thinking about buying another car because it would be easier to get a newer car from a lot than to get a loan for a swap. so what i have been thinking about is either a del sol vtec with the b16 or an EG si, but i just wanted to know that why does the del sol seem so looked down upon, no one really seems to like them or drive them compared to other hondas. is there a reason for this? are they problematic? or hard to do things with? i just dont get it. please help, thanks

Re: why a del sol?

Not as many of them as there are '92-95 civics, only a 2 person vehicle, not quite as much aftermarket, and they also a little weight more.

Cool Re: why a del sol? Why not.

I've talked to a few people that own them and the most common problem is leaking, the seals just wear down after time. The roof comes off alot in the summer and you open the trunk to put it in. Open/Close repeat. Other then that I've owned 4 hondas, 2 civics, 1 accord ,1 delsol. The del sol is sporty and fun to drive but not good for carrying crap. I'm a single 28 year old guy with money to put into an older car so I chose the sol and ditched the 95 4door accord.(family car) I have not had any problems finding parts to do upgrades, most of the time they cost less than I thought. I got my 93 si sol for 2,000 and have put 500 into it. It runs and looks great, still get 32mpg.
Buy what you will use for your daily grind, are my thoughts.

Re: why a del sol? seals...

I've seen door seals (left and right)in e-bay for 40.00 trunk seal for 30.00.
I think that was including shipping. The one I havn't seen is the roof seal, the one I want. There are so many parts on e-bay, aftermarket stuff I would stick to brand names, alot of crap comes from china or whatever and doesn't even say who makes it.
Good luck
