door won't open

Hi, I have a 94 lumina 2dr and can't get my drivers door to open. I have replaced the outstide handle and the door worked good untill I drove home from my shop and then it would not open I have tried everything and I can't get the door panel off so it is hard to see from prying the panel open. It won't even open with a screw driver pushing down the rod in the door frame( i left the cover plate off to clean). Please help the passenger door is starting to stick now and at times won't open and at other times won't close. The little pin that disapeers when you pull on latch does not always come in or out. Is that connected to the electric auto lock??? Thanks for any help that you can give me. Timmy

Re: door won't open

will it not open from the inside or outside or both. You could try spraying some wd-40 on the latch see if that works

Re: door won't open

I can not open door from inside or outside. The car has power locks, when I put my key into the drivers side lock and turn it, the other door unlocks ok. So I think it is unlocking OK.

Re: door won't open

my car had the same problem. the linkage in your handle is geting jamed up. if you have one of those verticle handles just take a skrew driver and pry the panel off jently than manuely open the door with the linkage.

Re: door won't open

Tey pushing IN on the door while pulling the latch (relieves the bind on it and lets it move easier)...if that works, it needs cleaning or has a stretched linkage rod...

Re: door won't open

if theres a problem in opening the door inside and out,, it is the linkage,, in order to open it you need to pry up on the linkage above the latch ,, i had to do it , it was easier said than done , but its the only way it opened, and i put a new handle on ,,, same damn thing,,it is the lock,, so i disconected to lock all together. havent had a problem since!! email me if you need to
