1995 Taurus Open Headers?
Hey, I was just wondering if I unbolt the headers will my engine be fine, because I have done it to numerous civic r's with no problem, but when I did it to my friend's neon, he blew a head gasket or something...so I'm just wondering if I unbolt (or weld?) my headers, will the same thing happen to me (blow something)
Thanks, Mike |

Re: 1995 Taurus Open Headers?
Why do you want to unbolt the headers??? Need to repair something??? Some parts may rely on exhaust backpressure to operate properly..

Re: 1995 Taurus Open Headers?
well, a taurus has exhaust manifolds, not headers, but if you take them off (and don't run the engine with them off) and remember to put on new gaskets when you re-install them, you should be fine.

Good point, I was actually thinking of the front pipe when I posted.

Re: 1995 Taurus Open Headers?
if you ran the engine with the manifiolds disconnected it would run very poorly and melt things in the engine bay and you could possibly get carbon monoxide poisoning.
There isn't really a "diagram needed" per se, each manifold connects to the y-pipe and the y-pipe has an O2 sensor plugged into each pipe above the Y. It's not too complex.
