Re: improving gas mileage

well if you really wanna do everything that you can, than; clean and re-oil the intake, make sure all tire pressure is stock, when you drive, shift around 2,000 RPMS and don't go over the speed limit if you can help it. Umm, I geuss new plugs and wires'll help, especially if they're in need of a change. Make sure your timing belt is okay, and make sure you're not running rich. Don't lug anything extra unless you have too. Also, keep your windows and sunroof closed if possible.
oohhh also, an oil change might do ya good, check all your coolants, etc...

I know there's more stuff, but that's all I can think of for the time being... if you really wanna go all out, you can get a custom exhaust, with straight through mufflers, a high flow cat, and headers, and that'll really help out ALOT. If you don't have a cone style intake, you may or may not benefit from one, but either way check and make sure that the filter isn't too dirty. Good luck man

Re: improving gas mileage

^lol,m if he does all that, he won't be saving very much money on gas...

Just drive the speed limit. No redlining/racing and you'll be fine

All of what Rocker said, plus a new fuel filter.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

I need a drink and asprin after trying translate that. But anyway, just make sure air filter is clean, accelerate slowly and keep it in the highest gear possible. You don't need to go to great lengths to get good gas mileage.

Re: improving gas mileage

the FIPK is advertised to improve milage. I personally havnt noticed much of a difference, but i do mostly around town stuff. I would imagine on a trip like that it might be noticable.

but like stated abouve, keep the revs low and you should do alright. Stay out of that boost range (above 3k or so). thats where the turbo kicks in and kills your milage.

Re: improving gas mileage

I think the biggest easiest thing is to change your fuel filter... I know some guys who have 200,000mi cars and have never changed it! gunk galore my friends! some nasty shite too...

edit: oops, my bad vert
