Shaking Motor All the Time 1985 735i

As you start the car it has a rough idle. as you give it gas it stays the same. I think it may be fuel injection. Every now and then it shuts off on it's own. I put in fuel injector cleaner but this did not work. It just started one day out of the blue, before everything was good. Thanks for your ideas. JorgeS

I would suspect the idle control valve (bad or dirty or electrcial lead is loose). If you can locate this item (near the throttle body and long, black plastic/metal tube with hoses and electrical leads attached) I would remove it and clean the interior port with a throttle body spray cleaner.

Go to realoemparts.com and check the pictures there for your car and this part so you know what you are looking for.

Mea Culpa. it is realoem.com. You enter, go to archive and E23, the browse parts for fuel preparation and you will find a good schematic of the part I refer to.
