Gas Guage Freakin Out

A While Back I Asked About My Gas Guage Going Up And Down Even After Filling Up. A Couple Said The Tank Is Where Problem Is. I Thought About This It Goes From Low Fuel To Full In A Snap Of A Finger. I Dont Think The Guage Could Go Up That Fast If That Was Prob. Today I Was Told That The Dash Needs To Be Rebuilt And Would Cost 450 Bucks. Anybody Got Input On This Would Be Great. Thanks Dave. By The Way Its A 2000 Yukon

I had the same problem on my 2001. It was the sending unit in the gas tank and there's a recall notice about the wiring. Took it to the dealer and had it replaced... No problems since.

Re: Gas Guage Freakin Out

Has anyone else had this problem? I have this issue on my 01' Yukon. I called the dealer and they said there is no recall related to this! Has anyone has this replaced under recall, does anyone know the recall notice or some way I can ID it to the dealer?

Thanks!

Re: Gas Guage Freakin Out

extremely common...sending unit in the tank for sure. it is probably not a recall, but a TSB...technical service bulletin. That way they don't have to change it for free because it is not a safety concern...sometimes if it is still under warranty they will fix TSB's for free. The sending unit in the tank is pricey, too.
