Question Break Pads

I noticed some grinding from the left front wheel while braking on my 1999 Dodge Ram 5.2L pickup. After removing the wheel I determined that the pads were wearing thin. Checking my receipt from Meineke dated 12/16/02 there is no indication as to what kind of warranty is carried on the pads that they installed. I called Meineke who said that I would have to bring my truck and receipt into their shop. Because I had just purchased the truck at that time I believe that I was told that they have a lifetime warranty. When I google the part number "PD369M" I get ProStop Premium Brake Pads. The whole part number from the invoice is "PD369M PBLT". Does anyone have any warranty information on these pads?

I believe they are NAPA. I would do the brakes yourself and save a couple hundred. If you are grinding you probably need new rotors. Easy job altogether.

Re: Break Pads

I would like to find pads with a lifetime warranty, that's like tires with a lifetime warranty. No offense. But yeah breaks and rotors are simple, I've done them for a friend in a k-mart parking lot. Let us know if you need help.

Re: Break Pads

Yes you can find lifetime warranty brake pads but they are warrantied for manufacturer defect, not wear. You wil however want to get good quality pads and or rotors. These Generation 2 rams had too small of brakes for the weight of the truck and wear out pads quickly. The better ones last longer and are not as hard on rotors.

Re: Break Pads

Tony36,
You are correct about the manufacturers warranty, however several shops as well as several auto parts suppliers offer a lifetime warranty on brake pads. It mostly offered because they are banking on you not owning the car the next time it needs brakes or you will loose your reciept. Buy from autozone , their warranty proof is logged into their computer by your phone number. No receipt required.

Re: Break Pads

Due to personal physical limitations I souldn't try to do this type of job myself. For the sake of further postings, I have done this job in my younger and more fit days. So, tony36 and indyram, thank you for your input anyway. Now, back to my original question: "The whole part number from the invoice is "PD369M PBLT". Does anyone have any warranty information on these brake pads?"
