brake problem
I Just Replaced My Rotors And Brake Pads On My 01 Gp Gt. I Noticed That On The Right Front The Rotor Was Hitting The Bracket And Clip For Brake Pads. I Figured That The Rotor May Have Been Warped Bad Enough To Hit It. So I Put The New Rotors And Pads On And Took It For A Ride. Low And Behold That Didnt Fix It. The Clip Was Bent Again And Rubbing Against My Rotor. Took It To The Dealer To Find The Root Cause And They Took It Apart And Replaced The Clip.that Stopped The Constant Squeeling But Now When I Turn Right Or Left I Can Here It Catching The Clip. And Having Slotted Rotors Now It Sounds Like A Clicking Sound When It Hits The Rotor.
Any Ideas Of What This Could Be. I Just Had My Struts Replaced And Have To Have Them Switched From The Monroe To Delco Because They Dont Fit Right. Dont Know If This Could Be Causing My Rotor To Move Or If It Could Be Something Else. |

Re: brake problem
IT sounds like the slide busings for the caliper are worn out and causing the pads to sit crooked. This will cause a problem both when the brakes are applied and when not applied. When the brakes are applied, the caliper can cock to one side causing uneven pad wear and squealing. When teh brakes are released, the caliper may be sitting crooked, causing one or more of the pads to remain in contact with the rotor. I'm surprized the dealer didn't catch it.

Re: brake problem
Have them check the Hub bearing on that side. As a hub starts to go bad, it can allow in and out freeplay that will be exaggerated by the side loads created while turning.

Re: brake problem
Did you have the problem before you installed the slotted rotors? I've heard of problems using certain brands of aftermarket rotors, especially non OEM type performance versions.
