My 2006 Silverado CC Problem (2K miles)

Sorry I'm not a tech, so I may screw this up a little. BUT, I took my truck in for a general check (which my dealer offered) after 2000 miles, and they found a leak in the silver pipe in the picture below, where it goes into the motor. If anyone can confirm that this has anything to do with the water pump, that would help to clarify, because the tech said they were going to have to replace the water pump because of this. He showed me the leak and I did not have a camera, or I would've taken a pic just to show y'all what to look for. This could be a rare instance, but I thought I would put it out there in case it wasn't. Just wanted to let everyone know so that whatever this is doesn't cause your motor to go out at 36001 miles.

Do you mean 3601 miles?

Have no idea. Things just go wrong man. I haven't heard of it. Sorry you have to.

No, 36K & 1... 1 mile after warrenty I was kidding about that. You know how it goes, warrenty goes out and something happens the next day type thing.

As for this instance, I'm still well within warrenty (34K miles within), I just thought I'd throw this out for everyone else so that in case your mechanic doesn't catch it, you don't end up blowing a motor... or whatever else may happen. Like I said, this may have only happened to me... or it may not. This was more of just an FYI post.

Off topic a bit, but it sounds like you have an excellent dealer. My local outfit would have ignored it or put in some magic sawdust pills to stop the leak. GM has had problems with cooling system fittings on the trucks in recent years, good thing to have caught this early. Good luck with the new truck, pretty nice machines overall.

Yeah, I thought it was really cool of them to do that. I put about 500 miles a week on my truck, which is why I waited until 2000 miles instead of 1000.

Re: My 2006 Silverado CC Problem (2K miles)

Now I have 64,982 miles and it appears my thermostat is out(?). I drove about 5 miles (or so) this morning and it hit 260. I will try replacing the thermostat and see if that's the problem. 65K miles seems early for a t-stat to go out though.
