Exclamation engine bearings....need help

Ok I have an '89 Civic Si hatch. On day in july i was just driving the car up a steep incline on a bridge and I heard a loud pop. I took it to the gemini goodyear service place and they told me it was my engine bearings were blown. I know i need a new engine and i was even planning on it before this happened.
I finially got it started a few days ago. It was knocking really loud and shaking horribly and would stay cranked with out hitting the gas, though thats not a big problem to me right know becuase i just figure that it is just really old gas and probley water in the gas line now. But anyway, a dude i met when i was working w/ a/c said that i could put slick 50 the really think oil in it and i just drained all the oil and put two quarts of it in and filled the rest of the way up with the regualer oil. Now it still knocks, tho not as loud and shakes not that much anymore either. So i guess i have made progress there.
I wanted to know if anyone knew anything else i can do to make make the car run "somewhat" and on its own, but like around the neighborhood and stuff, until i can get the money for the new engine. Ill try anything that is suggested and i if i mess anything up it i am not losing anything but a blown engine.
Also if anyone can tell me the practicallity of changing the engine bearings and where i can get some (becuase i can't find any), and send me a link or tell me how to change them, cuase also if i screw anything i am not loseing anything.
Ill appriciate any advise to try to make it "some-what" running until i get the new engine. Thanks.

Re: engine bearings....need help

It would probably be cheaper to just swap the engine than to rebuild it. I guess it depends on how much time you have. It sounds like you'd have to have somebody do it for you, in which case you should probably just save your money for the swap because rebuilds aren't cheap at any mechanic shop. GL

that motor isnt going to last much longer dude. You can get lucas engine treatment and just run that with no motor oil to really thicken your oil to take up your lost clearances but like I said you'll be LUCKY to get 500 miles out of it still.
