New headlight and sidelight assemblies

Well...hit a deer last year and the guys that "fixed" the car jacked up BOTH of my headlight assemblies......nice huh.

I need new ones......and do not want to buy junk. Anyone know if the ones on Ebay are worth owning......or have any advice what I should do here? I see they range for 140.00 for a pair.....up to whatever you want to spend. Are the black ones worth the cash...and do they mess around with the reflectiveness of the headlights?

Thanks in advance for the help

Ernie

Re: New headlight and sidelight assemblies

I paid about $100 a piece for mine when the lenses fell off. As far as headlights go, they have always been real pieces of junk. $140 doesn't sound like a bad deal.

I threw them away. They were no good without the lense covers. The new ones are no better. I could about stick a flashlight out the window and see better.

Re: New headlight and sidelight assemblies

The headlight unit (excluding the turn signal unit) cost me about $70.00 at the local dealership. the whole unit was about $212.00. Gets expensive to change both sides. (Note: you can buy each sub unit separately, but you need to buy the whole unit to get the "bridge" piece that holds them together. 1996-2002)

You should be able to change the bulb to a different, brighter one.

I agree with the others, the stock lights are a (explicative deleted)!

Try Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. They are nice. They make up for the factory lack of candlepower.

Yeah Rich....I agree. I just replaced the fog lights with them..(another little tip I picked up off the forum)..and wow. I can See!!

Will be putting the silverstars in the headlights when I get the new ones. W/O an upgrade to HID.....the Silverstars are the best I have seen

Anyone know how long they last?

Re: New headlight and sidelight assemblies

I had silverstars burn out in 5 months so I went back to factory bulbs. I don't think the silverstars are that much brighter from the driver's point of view...brighter for oncoming traffic is more likely.

I really have seen a huge differance in my car with the Silverstars. Did you use rubber gloves when you put them in? If ANY oil gets on these lights.....they will not last very long. This goes for any light for that matter....since these are so bright...it would even be worse.

Wow.....if you did not get anything on them and they only lasted for 5 months.....thats gonna get expensive
