98 s-10 shifting problem, please help!!

Last week, I was driving home and I noticed that my gear shift suddenly felt very loose and I was having problems getting in gear. I took it to my mechanic and he told me that the clutch went out. He replaced the clutch but I am still having the same problems. I talked to him about it immediately when I picked up my truck yesterday and he said that they put new fluid in it should loosed up in a couple of days. He told me to bring it back to him in a couple of days if the problem was persisting. I am still having problems shifting into first but when the truck gets moving, the problem seems to diminish. Can someone tell me what is going on?? Frankly, I know very little about engines/transmissions so any help would cool. Thanks
