GTO 3.5litre kit???????

I read a web page the other day explaining how there is a 3.5litre engine that can be taken out of a shogun or something that will mate up with the GTO head directly

Anyone got any info on this?? pro's con's etc

I have to do an engine rebuild asap but if this is possible I'll take this route instead

Re: GTO 3.5litre kit???????

its out of a Mitsubishi Montero, a 6G74 motor. However, while the shortblock may bolt up to the heads and the transmission, there will still be other modifications to make it work. I'm not sure of all the details but i know its not just a direct drop in and your done thing. Do a search on 3SI for a montero motor swap. Not many people have done it, seems as if its really not worth the hassle.

Re: GTO 3.5litre kit???????

Yeah there is the 3.5L swap, but it requires quite a bit of work, fabrication, etc. Ray is also making 3.7L stroker kits...although there have been many setbacks.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

You mean stock head gaskets?

The only aftermarket headgaskets that I know of are for oversized pistons. The stock head gaskets are fine for everything else.
