block differences?

whats the difference if any between a 1989 lincoln towncar 302 engine block and one from an 87-93 mustang 302? im getting ready to rebuild a lincoln motor but am unsure if its the same.

I think the block are the same but, the heads are different on the Mustang 5.0. If the Lincoln was a Mark 7, then it also had a 5.0 H.O. and is exactly the same.

I have two Lincoln Towncar engines, that i have disassembled and saved the blocks, the heads, pistons, and crank (maybe) are different. The actual visual and strength of the block to my knowledge is the same! Just a note for the Ford guys,,,,, both of those engines were 300,000 mile engines one alittle over one a little under.

Call a Ford SVT dealer to make sure but, I see no problem with using it. Does the intake say 5.0 H.O. on it? If so that's the same engine as the Mustang, just like the Mark 7, Cougar XR-7, and some T-Birds.

But if it's not a H.O. the heads and intake are different so just get some new heads and intake for it and you should be fine. I'd do some checking just to make sure before you waste time and money.
