Volkswagen Passat Service

Does regularly scheduled service and maintenance include changing the timing belt when the manual suggests it?

I just bought a 2001 New Passat, and i checked the service on carfax and it seems all the scheduled service was followed but it doesnt say exactly what was done.

Is the Timing Belt changing included since it is suggested that they do so at 60,000 and i do see that it was serviced at 55,000 and 60,000 miles...

Re: Volkswagen Passat Service

timing belt is reccomended in manual for 105k miles. It should be replaced at least 80k miles max.

just pull the timing belt cover back with engine off and see if the belt is clean and black (not glossy). problably hasnt been done
