Unhappy Long Distance Relationships

Just wondering whats everybody's opinion on this is.

Here's my situation in a quick informative nutshell. My girlfriend who I love like a hobo loves a ham sandwich is moving to New York, I live in Texas. She's a model and got a job to model for Ford (not bullshitting, I was just as skeptical and suprised) and it requires her to be close to her job and be out there long periods of times. She wants to stay together, I do too but I'm not naive enough to think it won't be tough to stay in a relationship with a girl that far away. Thing is though, she'll be making enough bread to atleast see me each weekend or every other weekend by flying back here or have me fly up there. But I wanna stick with this girl. So I'm wondering what do you guys think. Am I crazy or making the right decision. I love this girl for who she is, but shit, modeling for Ford, making big $$$. Even more reason for me to want to stay with her. Girl's got a bright future.

That's all I need to know right there. The real question is, do you see this going somewhere? Do you think she's the one, or do you feel you might need to shop around a little while or want some freedom before you settle down?

If the answer is yes, if you know for sure she's the one, then go for it dude. Yes, a long distance relationship is very hard. I tried one and it just didn't work out. If you feel she's THE girl then this will be a nice thing for you two. If you both can get through this, smaller things will seem much easier in your guy's eyes.

I have to disagree. Not all girls will cheat on or dump a guy in a split second. Yeah, there is the chance that due to the money and location you could get your heart broken. There is also a chance though things will work out, and the relationship could get stronger. Which one though? Well that's up to XeVeNskyLiNE and his woman to decide.

Re: Long Distance Relationships

I never said shes gonna up and cheat right away but the stress of distance with the added weight of such a high stress job really streaches things thin.

Hell, I never said shes going to cheat, but people change first off, and when people are so far apart those changes still happen...and people tend to grow apart when they change what the other person loved, and when that person expects it seeing as they didnt change together....it tends to hurt things.

I dont know eather person, just saying what personal experience, and experience of many friends has taught me. Anyway, as I asked why cant he move out to her? How long is she going to be out there? These things affect it too. If shes only going to be there a month or two, thats no problem *or shouldnt be if they are strong*. But if it is going to be years...come on...they are still forming personal identies for the most part...thats really hard to do in a relationship with two people seperated so much over such a long time.

I wish the best man, but unless you can go with, or shes not there long I fear for ya and know that, as I said, eather way your going to be hurt. Being so far away from someone you love hurts, and so does seperating.

Good luck bro...good luck.

Re: Long Distance Relationships

Yea I know what you're saying. I'm being both optimistic and pessimistic about it. I'm pretty confident she'd be loyal to me, but you know shit happens sometimes. Moving to NY isn't exactly something I want to do, plus I don't even know how possible that'd be. I've already got plans for myself here in Texas plus I'd have no way to support myself unless she's the one taking care of me. I'm basically broke and getting into college before this year is over, so I couldn't afford to live up there.

She's told shes going to be up there for about a year and a half. That seems really long to me. But like I said, if she can come see me often or vise versa then I'm pretty confident things can work out. One thing I've noticed is that when I don't see her for a few days she starts missing me really bad. So maybe that's a good thing, she'd stay loyal because she doesn't want to lose me. But I dunno, its just hard to predict things since there will be so many variables once she actually does move out there.

I do feel like she's the one, even to the point where it'd seem like a hassle to keep shopping around. So I'll stick with her and see what happens. Who knows, maybe things will turn out better than expected. I'm no fortune teller I'll just have to leave in god's hands or somethin...

Re: Long Distance Relationships

well bro, it will test you harder than anything else!

But if it does work out, as Muscletang said, it could get stronger. You know...ring and home and kids and grandkids thing?

I wish you the best man. Keep in constant communication, dont get paranoid, dont you DARE let yourself get bad thoughts eather.

And if you ever need someone to talk to whos been through this shit on some scale hit me up.

Re: Long Distance Relationships

Yea, going from Texas to NY, big ass leap in so many ways. Might consider that if we're still together after a few years. I've already got plans for a 2 year tech college so I'm not going anywhere anything soon.
