Loose handling

I have a 2002 Z71 with 84K and wanted to find out from some of the vets on the board if they could recommend how to tight-up the handling in the front end. This might be confussing but the suspension feels good. The truck rolls over in the turns and remains stable throughout the turn, however the steering feels sloppy and loose almost like I have a loose wheel. I would like to get that new truck feel back into the steering. Any thoughts?

Re: Loose handling

Mine does it, and it's gotten worse over the years. It's a truck so it's expected, imo. That's one of the reasons im getting a bimmer next.

Re: Loose handling

Could be that the idler arm and/or pitman arm are getting sloppy. If your truck doen't have a steering stabilzer, or if it has one and is getting weak, you may want to add one or replace if getting weak.

Re: Loose handling

Thanks Horse, I don't suppose the average joe can replace one of these items themself without having an alignment done?
