Power Steering Belt

My power steering belt is basically brand new from the mitsu dealer. When i start the car it squeaks loud enough to be heard 3 square miles away. Anyway its loud but a little less noticable when the car is warm. I hate belt dressing but i even tried it. The tensioner is as loose as possible but the belt still seems a little tight. I even took it off and compared it to another new one at the dealer. Im clueless. Maybe the power steering fluid.... Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Power Steering Belt

Ummmm... it may not be your PS, check your altenator belt, check the altenator tself, if you see black shavings, thats it. It may be getting old, might need new belt or alt. or just tighten everything,

All the belts were changed. Pretty sure its not the alternator belt. Did i mention when the sqeaking is happening, as i turn the steering wheel it gets louder. The car has to be warm for like 10 min then it will stop. On a humid day it dosent stop unless fully warm and going stright. Im tempted to cut the damn belt and go without.

Re: Power Steering Belt

Your ps pump could be going bad, it could also be your water pump. Take the belt off and check to see if both turn relatively easily.
