Rich Knocking???

hey guys, i have an '84 caprice classic w/ the 3.8L V6. it knocks like crazy when it first starts up and off an on after it warms up. the wierd thing is that the computer is saying that i am running rich. WTF?

any help would be great.

Well, if the computer says you're running rich then I think the car's running rich (bit of sarcasm there). Sorry. Anyway... check the timing, try replacing the O2 sensor, and/or you may need a new mixture contol solenoid on the carb.

Yeah, my timing is ok, and i replaced the O2 sensor a week ago. i also have new spark plugs. i recently rebuilt the carb also. i'm baffled.
