Microsoft's Origami project

so i was reading CNN today and it was talking about Microsoft's Origami project.

here's the link Origami's website
http://www.origamiproject.com

i was wondering what you all think it may be, if you have any clue. there are rumors that it will be an iPod killer. i was going to go a head and pick up an ipod video but then i read this and was wondering what the deal is. i want my ipod before spring break, starting friday, Microsoft will unveil what Origami is on thursday though. so i'm in a little bit of a predicament.

like i said though, just wanting to get your thoughts and opinions on this little thing.

Well, it's official. And may I be the first to ask on this forum: what the HELL is this thing? Now, not that I was sitting on pins and needles or anything in expectation of Microsoft's latest gadget (I really couldn't care less) but I'm still a bit surprised at this entry. Who is going to care about this thing? It's too big to be a true pocket "portable" like a PDA, but too small to possess some of the key features of the average laptop (like a decent sized keyboard for instance.) It's only got 3 hours of battery life (no better than a laptop) nor (I assume) would it even have the equivalent processing power -- and even if it were to be marketed as a gaming system, who's going to spend $600+ for a stupid portable game unit (as if Sony's system wasn't already highway robbery.)

Another worthless gizmo hits the market, ready for you to squander your hard earned money on.

Re: Microsoft's Origami project

I would just get the ipod and not worry about the others. I have a PSP and I love that thing.

Re: Microsoft's Origami project

I heard them today on CNN try and say it was like a mini PC you can download movies, do emails, web, the "go every where device." or "The Ultra Mobile PC"

Humm, Sounds like a Cell phone to me, and an expensive one at that.
Just another M$ $cam to milk u$ dry of our fund$.

Origami project could also what Bill does with all our money he's been saving.

Re: Microsoft's Origami project

yeah, when i get home i'm gonna order an ipod. i know that some people have had problems with them and other will say that i should look for something different. what it comes down to is what I want. and what i want is an ipod. a PSP would be cool but i just don't play enough games or anything like that. plus i want something i can put in my pocket easily, etc. the Origami project was pretty stupid and i am mad at myself for lettin me get so hyped up about it.
