99 GA SE Power Locks go on and off electrical short ideas

As I stated, I have a 99 GA SE with some wierd goings on with the electrical, I'm trying to get some help on what could easily otherwise be like finding the old needle in a haystack.

Here is what I experience while driving:

1) The power locks annoyingly click themselves on and off, which definitely happen with a greater frequency when I push on the brakes to come to a stop.

2) There is a wire dangling from where the top of the windshield glass meets the interior ceiling, close to the rear view mirror. My hunch here is that the previous owner was having issues with the mirror (although I'm not sure what could be electrical with the mirror?) and by pulling this wire, the electrical issue lessened to a more tolerable status.

3) The radio display goes 'haywire' on occasion. Sometimes the display is completely normal, other times it will show partial data, other times, it seems to show every known display it can. The radio does play, the lighter (which I know from reading here is on the same fuse) works fine.

4) The interior front seats courtesy foot lights are on sometimes. Also, sometimes when I turn the car off, the passengers side foot light remains on, could be all nite too.

I realize I have an electrical short, ie, electrical problems, I was just wondering if anyone could shed any specific light on this one so I have a better starting point.

1-2 You hav a short. The wire hanging above the mirror is for the lights on the mirror. Most likly a prevous owner might had wired a Radar detector up there or something like that. If its shorting out I'd take the headliner off and investigate teh wiring situation.
Also a bad relay can cause the power locks to malfuction.

3 those radios ALL do this! Gets all scrambled and you cant see what teh time is, welcome to the Club!

4 probley not. Though it could, they do come on and stay on for a while after you get out of the car. And the car has a default if any lights are left on, it should shut them down to save the battery.
I hav knowticed on my GA that if I open the door while driving the interior lights dont come on, who knows!?

As I stated above, start with that power wire to the mirror, and the relays in the fuse box in the drivers side I believe.

I think you should junk it and buy a real car, like a supercharged Buick Regal. hehe
