I came across these kits, and i was wondering how realistic to they really look? Other than the interior.

Re: C4-C5 Conversion kits?
They are okay looking but you still have to paint them. By the time you get it all done you might as well buy a C5.

Re: C4-C5 Conversion kits?
I've seen of few of the kits before, and you would probably have a few uniformed people believing you have a c5, but NOBODY who knows much about vettes would be fooled. The length of the c4 gives the body kit away. The doors are longer and the winshield/pillars/top look different or something.

Re: C4-C5 Conversion kits?
Looks like a good way to ruin a C4 to me.
A C4 is a C4 and a C5 is a C5, if you want the looks of a C5 then get a C5. I guess it would be ok , if you want to be the joke of the day to the "true Corvette crowd". If you have a really clean C4, then install a really nice set of wheels/tires. If you already have wheels/tires/good looks then spend the money on performance and brake mods. The Z06 whells that I have on mine really made a big change for the better and the performance brake mods make it stop 500% better than when it was stock. My next step is working on the performance side of it. To look like a nice C4 is a good thing, to make it faster than a C5 is even sweeter. If it's a C5 that you really want, then get one and don't settle for 2nd best. |

Driving a 97 and a 96 feel absolutely nothing alike. They are completely different cars. The engine and the new frame/body make the car feel nothing alike. The only way I can describe it would be the 96 and older cars feel like your driving an older muscle car, and the 97 and newer feel like your driving more of an exotic supercar. Not that the 97 is that much faster, but it just rides and responds much better, but then again i like the rough riding of the c4's. |

Re: C4-C5 Conversion kits?
Don't put the conversion kit on it. I'm 15 and my first car is an 85 Vette. They look great the way they were made from the factory. Plus if you change the body you"ll kill the value of the car.

Re: C4-C5 Conversion kits?
Corvette85, sounds like we have something somewhat in common. I got my first corvette at 15, an '87 dark red metallic coupe. I absolutley love my '92 now, but I still miss the '87. I always liked the interior on those models, with all the switches on the dash and the digital guages. As far as the way they look on the outside, I probably like the way the '92 looks better, but I think an '85 would look much better if you paint that stupid black moulding that wraps around the car, body-color instead of black. I think back then I paid about $8,000 for the car, in great condition.
And I actually have an unusual story to tell if anyone cares to listen about that car. I had to sell it a few years ago b/c of getting married and my wife being pregnant. Anyway, I was in a hurry to sell it so I listed it at $7,500. About a week later I get a call from a guy wanting to know where it is so he can come look at it. I had it sitting at my work, so I told him to come on over and he could look at it. Well, he comes asks me to take him for a test drive in it, so we hop in and I drove him around the town I live in and he really seemed to like it. When we get back he starts to haggle with me on the price and we finally settled on $6,700. He then proceeds to start pulling cash out of every pocket on him. (which I thought was a little unusual but I didn't care....lol) He bought the car right there and drove it home an hour later. I thought nothing of it until about a month later when I get a call from the state police. Apparently, the guy had robbed a bank in a nearby town just a few days before, and paid me with the stolen cash. I had since spent it so I wasn't required to return it. (WHEW!) They said he stole $5000 in hundreds and about $2500 in twenties. I thought back and he had paid me $5000 in hundreds and the rest in twenties. But the craziest thing, was that I had just drove a bank robber all around the town I lived in, through all the back-roads, and any number of places he could have shot me and pushed me out of the car. But I was glad to have the cash..... |
