Question No heat

I just recently bought a 1994 camaro v6 3.4 liter , as I was driving the car yesterday I realized I have no heat no matter how high I turn it up. The car doesn't overheat but does run high, past the half way point on the temp. gauge but not in the red (yeah I'm not mechanically inclined). I drove it for over and hour yesterday and it didn't overheat but as I said it was well past the halfway point but not in the red, but still no heat. Any input is helpful before I take it to the mechanic and lose money. Thanks!!

Re: No heat

If he didnt have a stat, it would take longer to warm up, but wouldnt get that hot, am I right or mistaken?
I agree that the core may be bypassed, but I think the first thing he should do is open up the radiator(when cool) and take a look at how his coolant looks...he may be due for a flush...
