99 v6 to 98 duratech swap
hey guys, I have a 99 taurus, it's got 135000miles on it, it was a fleet vehicle. The Tranny's as you all may know are not that great in them. I have hesitations etc. and the check engine light comes on and off sooo... my mechanic says its the torque converter. but I have a 98 duratech with 37000 miles just sitting there. It has the tranny also. the only thing i'm missing is the ecu, didn't pull it at the time. Questions are:
1. Will it fit? 2. Anyone know where i can a cheap ecu? 3. Is it worth it? I have done engine swaps before(1983 280zx with a fully blown 350) thanks for the help guys |

Re: 99 v6 to 98 duratech swap
If you are up to a complete wiring swap and everything that that implies then go ahead.
YOu can buy a 99 Duratec Taurus fro about 3K. I am a pretty good wrench and there is no way I would tackle a project like this based strictly on economics vs effort/difficulty. Mike

Re: 99 v6 to 98 duratech swap
Tauruss are a dime a dozen. If you want a taurus with a duratec, get a taurus with a durated. You might have problems with the swap.
