HUGE Security Problem
All of a sudden, my factory "theft deterrent" system is acting up on my 91 Park Avenue. When I use my keys to unlock my doors, they unlock, but when I open the door the alarm will begin to sound. I can't just lock the doors back to turn the alarm off like I should be able to. I just have to sit and listen to the alarm. The engine doesnt lock up and neither do any of the accesories. I can start the car and drive it down the road with the alarm blazing. However, the alarm ALSO sounds when I start the car... Weird, I know. Ive tried. Is there any way I can just disable the whole anti-theft system? Cut a few wires maybe? Any suggestions will help. I would much rather be with no anti-theft system than a faulty one! Please help! Email me if possible. If not just reply. [email protected] (with a five). Thanks!

Re: HUGE Security Problem
I've done the bypass on my car and about 10 other cars now. Once you've done it the first time it gets easier to id and do. First things first dont go to radio shack to have your key tested they dont know squat. I went to the local alarm shop on the corner by my house and he did the ohm's test on the car key. There in the back he had a pack of resistors from GM and tested those as well. He recommended to get a resistor within 5% + or - to make sure it will work better. Have them clamp a few electrical clamps on the wires of the resistor if they find a match in there stock, and have them trim of the excess wire. Now when it comes to installing this thing thats where it got tricky. If you pull apart your dash and look at the base of the wheel there is a clip that takes all the wires in colomn and spreads them out. Mine was a large orange wire with 2 small ones in it. Make sure you cut them with slack to spare. From there strip off about a centimeter of wiring and wrap into the clamp that is on the resistor and clamp them down. direction of the resistor has not matter thus far in the times of done this, but make sure you put the resistor in the set of wires leading from and back into the security controller. After you have it verified that its working and bypassed i recomend cover the ends in electrical tape and from there maybe put it in a project housing that you can get at radio shack. If you have any questions let me know you can reach me via the normal internet services on my profile.

Re: HUGE Security Problem
Guys, it's not a VATS problem. He stated he can start the car but he horn keeps going off. It's the entry alarm. Try unlocking the door over on the passenger side and see if it'll disarm. See, the 2 most common problems are the driver's lock cyl. wears out and won't disarm. The other is the light green wire in the door jamb breaks and since it won't "see" a ground input when you unlock the door with the key, it doesn't disarm. Anyhoo, do that above then PM me.
