pop charger/ filter info/help

Can anyone give me some info on this product? Is it a good price including shipping and all, is there a better way to go? I'd like to hear some opinions. Thanks

IMO

It looks like a piece of crap. The metal casting looks rough as hell which will lead to possible bad air flow, and the opening is not perfectly circular which will most definitely block the path of air transitioning smoothly from the filter throught the MAF.

The seller states:
"Filter : K&N Paper, 1,000,000 Mile Warranty, Cleanable, Re-Useable."

What the hell is K&N paper? Is the filter a K&N or is it a copy of a K&N? If it's a K&N then state it's a K&N!

I am leary about this intake. Stick with the people who build quality intakes like JWT, $tillen, etc. Costs more, but as always:

You Get What You Pay For.

If the casting was smooth and the opening was an actual circle, I might consider it being a worthy intake for the price, but it isn't.

Im still new to the tunng scene, but am amd into it. Im going to sound stupid in asecond, so laugh it up. Heres my question:
What the hell is a pop charger and what does it do? Is it different from cold-air induction? Any help is great...thanks.

A POP Charger is a air filter and and venturi that bolt the MAF and is made specifically by JWT. Stealin blatently ripped off JWT's design.

It uses a large K&N filter for increased air flow. The venturi is a large aluminum air horn. The purpose of the venturi is to smooth the air flow into the MAF since the MAF doesn't like turbulent air flow which can screw up your fuel/air mixture.

A cold air intake is a set of pipes and a K&N air filter. The pipes go between the TB and the MAF and between the MAF and the filter. The pipe between the MAF and the filter routes into the fender well (you have to cut a hole to accomodate this).

The CAI makes more power, mostly through the effects of the longer pipe, and only a little through the cold air itself.

It all depends upon what you are wanting. The CAI requires you to cut the coachwork in the engine bay and it very loud. It definitely makes more power though.

If you go with the CAI, don't even consider running it without the AEM bypass valve. I personally know two people who hydrolocked their engines because of using a CAI (before the bypass valve was available).

Talking ok..

I am seriously considering the CAI, either HOT SHOT or Weapon R...but, well, bear with me, bypass valve? I dont mind it being loud, but I also dont want to seize up my engine, ne?
