I have an ask to everyone who have models of TAMIYA and who like it.

First I'll tell You my story:
I bought REVELL kit - BMW 507. It's very good model I think. Later I bought TAMIYA's BMW 320i... Worse than the first... Than I bought FUJIMI's BMW M635CSi ... and ...
--> the 3series BMW is bigger than 6series!!!!!!
both of them are in the same scale 1/24 and in real e21(3series) is smaller than e24 (6 series). I have never tought that it is possible that companys can make mistakes like this :|
2 weeks ago I bought e36 320i and every models are compability to this one. every are in the same real scale except TAMIYA's...

And once more. This kit of REVELL 320i e36 have 2 kind of rims. First rims kit is serial from the M3 - 17" motorsport rims. The second are one inch bigger probably AZEV rims. but in real they're have 20 mm (motorsport) - that is more than 19" in real (2 inch bigger than in real). AZEV have 21mm - it's more than 20" !!!!!!In real it is impossible to put that size rims under serial body. And I have problem with them in my model... spece behind car and the ground is to big cose the rims are to big...

HAVE YOU EVER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM LIKE ME OR HAVE YOU SAW SOMETHING LIKE THIS ??

Tamiya's kits tend to be slightly oversized for some reason, we think it has to do with Tamiya going the extra mile to get the correct 'proportions' out of the model kit.

Historically, Tamiya's cars are slightly bigger than the other companies.

Ray is right, Tamiya generally takes liberties with the actual measurements to get the right look, but also don't forget that the Revell kit is likely 1/25 scale, so it will be about 4% smaller than the Tamiya kit, assuming both were accurate to begin with.

Yes remember that alot of the revell kits are 1/25 not 1/24. Tamiya is all 1/24 I think or there are maybe a few 1/25....

With regards to the E21, the Tamiya 320 has a full racing aero package- this adds alot to the size of the car, and it's a good bit larger than the street E21. Also, keep in mind that this was the second 1/24 kit they ever did, from the mid 70's. For the era, it's a terrific kit. They've come a long, long way since.
