1992 camaro RS 5.0 wouldn't start??????

please guys i need your help ,i have 1992 rs with 305 a,i was driving it the other day with some friends and then i parked the car for less than an hour i came back and i tryied to start it but it wouldn't start,first i thought was the battery ot the starter,but i tested both and they both work,and then i thought maybe the switch but i tried to start the car with wires just like theves do but it wouldn't start,what could be the problem?????please help me

sounds like a vats problem, does it turn over at all?

thank you for the help,no it doesn't run at all,the switch would turn all the way but the tep cage turns but no start and run.i never had this problem before.

ya, check all of your fuses first, and then go fromt here, but it sounds like your vats.

vatts???what is that and how can i check it??i checked all the fuses and they all work.

your vats is your vehical anti theft system, on mine, you might want to check on yours also, there is this little chip the under the dash by the hood latch. make shure it is there and it is pluged in all the way.

I agree, sounds like vats...go to a chevy dealer and have them check your keys resistence number, then go to http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/find.asp?
and buy the correct VATS Security Override System...comes with simple directions and you will never have that problem again...I have the override and so do many others

you could also buy a can of Spider Spit (Electrical Contact Cleaner) and clean your key and inside the lock cylinder. Sometimes those stupid pellets just get dirty. Worth a shot.

i found the problem,it was the switch,i had to replace it from the dealer,thank you very much guys.
