WHERE? remote wire for amp in a 2003
2003 Blazer with factory radio, Installing amp & sub, have run power/ground wires and signal wires.
Need to know where to patch in for the remote wire to power-on the amp. The fuse box is hard to reach and not sure about using radio harness. Anyone with prior experience on installing an amp in a 2003 Blazer with factory head unit please advise. Many thanks! |

I think you can use any wire that is hot when the ignition is on. Remember this is a remote turn on, so it is only turning on the relay and it will not require much current draw.

Correct, you may use any wire that has 12V when the key is in the accessory position. Be sure to turn the key off an make sure the 12V dissappears as well though. 100% correct there is minimal current draw, this is only a signal wire. Make sure your amp is grounded well though.

Some line-level converters have this built in so you don't have to splice. Besides you will need them for RCA jacks.

Re: WHERE? remote wire for amp in a 2003
The radio harness on a 2003 does not actually have a an accessory function. Odd way they do it, and it creates headaches for the aftermarket with expensive modules required to emulate the switched power and take over other functions such as the door chime. Anyway, you will want to either tap into an accessory fuse or the main accessory wire at the steering column, which should be a heavy orange wire.

Just a little info for ya there are vents in the back of the truck that rattle very loud when bass is up. take off covers off and put a little dynamat on the inside of the vent flaps just enuf so they are open a bit and dont rattle, the space created will allow full functionality of vents and no loud a#$ rattlingalso dynamat the tailgate, also vibrates annoyingly

Re: WHERE? remote wire for amp in a 2003
What I've done with all my stereo installs is put an on/off interrupter switch in the remote wire. That way you can turn the amp off when ever you like. Say you get pulled over for your stereo and a cop is trying to write you a ticket you can turn the switch off and say yours doesn't work if he sees it. And when he says you're a liar you can turn up your radio and say see sir, it wasn't me. So far I've been pulled over once for my subs and that worked. So hopefully you never need it, but it is always nice.
