Re: 6th generation celica engine swap

that would be stupid, that is a shitty engine compared to a 3sgte, and it would cost alot of money to do so

Re: 6th generation celica engine swap

A properly tuned 3sgte would be capable of up to 265hp or more.

Re: 6th generation celica engine swap

a properly tuned 3sgte can support upwards of 800Hp

even if he had one laying around he shouldnt do that, i have a spare 4agze and numerous parts for a high comp 4age lying around but you dont see me swapping them in do you (lol except for the 4agze)

Re: 6th generation celica engine swap

toyota engines own honda engines. the 3sgte is one of the best 4cyls out there and the 2jz is the best 6cyl. sure the b18 has 170hp, but a 2nd and 3rd gen 3sgte have 200/225hp and 260hp respectivley. not to mention the b18 is prolly only capable of 250-300~hp on stock internals while a stock 3sgte is capable of around 350-400~. so sure you could swap a b18 and be "origional" but the 3sgte is a far superior and easier swap.

Re: 6th generation celica engine swap

I agree, he could be "original", but a Honda motor in a Toyota? That should be considered a sin! LOL

well not really, in the states the 6th gen came with 2 engines the 7afe in the st, and the 5sfe in the gt. overseas though, the 6th gens came with the
3sge n/a in the gt models(i think they are called gt-r over ther though) that put out 210 hp and the gt-4 which was awd(rally car) came with the 3sgte turbocharged with 260hp. the 4th and 5th generation celicas seen a weaker version of the 3sgte in the united states which was in the awd celica alltrac from 88-93 and put out 190 and 200hp respectivley. the 5th gens overseas had a 225hp version of the 3sgte.

Re: 6th generation celica engine swap

Honestly, we 6th geners cant be too picky about this. Getting a 3sgte from an st205 is very very rare, once in looong while there's one and its expensive. (circa 2500) like the one I found from a JDM mag here in Cali. The shop/seller is in Torrance (Los angeles) area. In any case, you'll have trouble maintaining its legality etc. Get a 2nd generation 3sgte and work from there just like everyone else if your plan is in the long term. There is no way around it. 5sfe-5sge conversion n/a are good too btw.... If you're going to fabricate other engines into a celica, at least get further - I like those 1st geners w/sr20dets in their bay...what a drool.
