Front DVD Operation

Does anyone know how to over ride the link between the parking brake and the front DVD. Rear DVD entertainment systems works fine, but when you remove the parking brake the front screen is blacked out. Sound is available but no picture. I have learned how to over ride the NAV system so you can operate while moving so there has to be a way to do the same with the DVD system. Any one out there know? Please share if you do.
Thanks,
Truper

Re: Front DVD Operation

Do you know why this is designed to operate this way?
Are you sure you want to risk the ticket if your pulled over and it is playing?
Is watching TV while you're driving a good thing?

Re: Front DVD Operation

Actually he is a she!! Sometime there are more passengers than the rear seat will accomodate. Most after market systems the front screens are operational while the car/truck is moving. I think that it is a Toyota feature. The Nav system is the same way although there is an over ride feature so a passenger can operate the system without having to pull over. Why should the passenger not be able to veiw on a long trip. Maybe that is hard concept for fourwd1 to comprehend.
Thanks anyway, I had heard these boards where a good source of infomation. Maybe not. It was worth a try right?

Re: Front DVD Operation

Hey this was all good information. It is against the law and against common sense, almost everywhere to have an "implement of husbandry" viewable from or in front of the drivers seat.
So YOU have decided that these laws are not applicable to you.
So you can expect to take a little ribbing.

Re: Front DVD Operation

I was unaware that it was illegal, does that mean that all the after market installation that makes it possible for the passenger to view the screen the place of business could be liable or accountable? You wouldn’t be an officer would you? Or just someone who reads the vehicle codes on a regular basis. I'm not sure if you are correct after all how can the Auto companies sell a car that has a Nav system right there viewable to the driver? Common sense you maybe right but the law, I wish I knew. But hell you are quite the scholor I'll give you that.
But really thanks for sharing
I do understand your concern and where you are coming from, so don't think that I take your input lightly.

Re: Front DVD Operation

Oh hell, no scholar here, nor am I a traffic cop jockey, I just know what I need to keep one step ahead of the costly tickets.
I was given a warning for having my laptop viewable with my GPS hooked to it, years ago. Now they have come out with the NAV systems that do the exact same thing. your guess would be as good as mine how they view those.
I don’t know how they are handling the NAV systems they way I read it if the officer wants to he could ticket. Or if you piss him off!
