Problem painting with my airbrush

Hi guys!

I got some problems, with my airbrush, there paint is not looking great...

If you look at this picture :



There is a lot of small dot where there is no paint, that the paint don't want to stick too. What is it? How can I fix it? How can I prevent that from happening?

Also, if you look where there is the big red arrow, there is a strange texture in the paint, do you know what this is?

By the way, my airbrush is a Badger 360 and I have a moisture trap.

What paint were you using?
What were you airbrushing over?
How did you treat the surface before applying paint?
What did you mix the paint in?

The paint I use is Createx Auto Air Color (never add problem with this before)
The surface was primed using duplicolor primer
I wash the surface before painting
And I use Createx Reducer to diluate the paint.

maybe some water in the paint ? Do you have a water trap on your compressor ? That happened to me before when I didn't had one.

Yeah, I have a water trap in the compressor, and I had a moisture trap on the hose between my airbrush and my compressor.

My long-lasting problem with automotive paints fisheyeing, very similarly to your case, was eventually traced to syringes - I used syringes to mix paint/reducer/hardener and apparently there's some substance in disposable syringes that makes them unsuitable for using for mixing paint.

Now it's not easy to say what's causing this in your case, but I'm sure we can all here collectively try.

Simply put, this can be caused by contaminatns:
- in the paint
- in the air
- on the surface.

Could it be that some residue was left in your airbrush? Water/moisture or some paint/thinner of a different kind?

You said you've never had this problem with this brand of paints. What did you do differently this time? Maybe used something different to wash the body?

I can't quite tell from the picture - are the fisheyes in the metallic paint or in the clearcoat? And, just to make sure, you've tried both metallic and solid colours from this manufacturer and never had this problem? How often have you airbrushed these paints?

What you need to do is find which of the 3 listed above is the source of contamination (try, if you can, a different air supply, airbrush, wipe the surface with silicone remover used by automotive paint shops, etc) and then find the cause. I'm sure others will have some more input. and I know just how frustrating fisheyeing can be.

Thanks for your help gonna try to clean everything and start again.
I only use water to clean the car.

I only shoot a coat of primer and 2 coats of metallic silver. I tried solid colors, pearlized colors and they are working good.

That is something I'd definitely look into first. Water alone is not a great way to remove contaminants like oils, silicone, etc. Try silicone remover I've mentioned before.
