WTF is my car stalling????

hey guys, i am new to this forum. I have a 1998 Lumina LTZ. Lately, my car stalls when it's at low speeds or if i brake for a long time. Why does my car do that? I spent soo much money buying things to fix this car and car still stalling. I was told my alternator is going bad, so i upgraded to a 160amp alt. Then my brakes were horrible? so i bought new brakes and rotors. I disconnected my - post on the battery so i can hook up stereo system. PLugged it back in... car stalls when its at idle speed. Turn off the car, turn it back on, works fine again. Just at low speeds/idle this happens. Was i supposed to do that reset idle thing? My eletrical system is fine, checked it so many times, it's not even funny anymore. Thanks in advance, hope some nice person helps me out. BTW, it's a 3.8L

When you upgraded the alternator, did you also upgrade to a bigger power cable?
