STD to Si tranny swap with just tranny
Heres my question:
Can an si tranny be bolted up to my std d15b1 with no problems and can I use my exsisting axles and hubs without replacing anything but the tranny? A guys is selling me an si tranny for 150 and since my clutch needs replacing soon, i figured it would be a great time to go ahead and add a 5spd. I really just want to take my std tranny off, pop in a new clutch and bolt this si tranny up and go without replacing any other components. Is this possible? Oh, and do i have to buy a new clutch for the si tranny or will it work from the std tranny cause i just ordered a new clutch for the std tranny?

Are you saying that right now you have an auto? If so then you are sadly mistaken....There is no straight bolt in about it..

Re: STD to Si tranny swap with just tranny
You said "add a 5spd" I assumed this meant you didnt have a manual in the first place.

Re: STD to Si tranny swap with just tranny
im not sure about this but i think the std 4 speed has a diffrent number of splines ....that would mean you need DX/SI axels and hub's....im not sure though...
i dont rember if std trannys came with less splines...

my old civic wagon always felt like it needed a 6th gear, heh. 4th gear is probably driving you nuts.
*sigh* i miss that car

Re: STD to Si tranny swap with just tranny
Nope can't do it. Si and DX have a different spline count than the STD. And depending what year your car is and what year the tranny is from you might have to get a different flywheel.
This might help you out with that.
