1997 acura CL 2.2 vtech Idle Loping Issue
I have been all over this car and had it a 2 diffrent shops, It seems that no one can figure out what exacley is wrong with my car. The problem is the Idle goes from 750- 2500 RPMs all the time when its cold or hot. This problem started at around 97,000 miles I have already had the MAP sensor changed and both O2 sensors. I hope that some one can shed some light on this for me.

Re: 1997 acura CL 2.2 vtech Idle Loping Issue
Hello my fellow Acura owners,
I also own a 1997 acura cl 2.2 with a manual transmission and I have had the same problem with the revving idle or bouncing idle. My first step was to check the air filter before I did anything which wasnt my problem. I also used a quality fuel injection cleaner which was added to a full tank of gas. That ran through its paces however the issue didnt seem to get much better. I then removed the idle air control and gave it a thorough cleaning and while I had it remove cleaned the throttle body. I started the car after doing this and the idle after about 30 seconds of starting smoothed out. I haven't had a problem since then and have put about 2000 miles on. My car currently has 228000 miles and runs really well. besides common maintenance I have had a great experience with the car. I bought it with 201000 miles from a older woman who maintained the car and got things done when they were supposed to be done. Great car, I love the 5 speed manual transmission.I am not a mechanic nor. Claim to be I do read alot of these and do my own repairs whenever I can, one of the reasons I bought this car was because I was told by two more car saby guys it would be a great car for a beginner because they were simple to work on. Anyways I hope this information helps you and you are back in action soon. |
