Speedo Not Reading Right

iNEED TO KNOW WHAT THINGS TO CHECK WHEN YOUR SPEED GAUGE IS NOT READING ACCURATELY. I HEARD YOU CAN CHECK THE CABLE THAT GOES INTO THE TRANNY BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR. SHOULD IT BE LOOSE OR CUT OR WHAT. WOULD IT EVEN THROW THE SPEED GAUGE OFF?

Re: Speedo Not Reading Right

Its reading slow. Like when I am going 65, it is saying that I am going 55. What should I do other than having it calibrated. I want to check the car out first.

Re: Speedo Not Reading Right

I was told by a friend that if your speedo gauge cable was loose at the tranny, that your gauge would not read properly. If that is true would'nt the tranny leak fluid?

Re: Speedo Not Reading Right

what year is it? It may not even have a speedometer cable. And if it does and it is loose, it wouldn't just read slow, it would probly work or not work, or just be jumpy.
