Remote control

My son has a 96 lesabre and apparently his remote control is broke. Where would I look to have this replaced ?

Thanks

Ebay, other stores on the web....watch out for over charging on the shipping.

Re: Remote control

Ok I found some on ebay that obviously have to be programmed. I am hearing that the dealer charges an arm & a leg to program it. Anywhere else I can look to have it programmed ?

Programming is explained in the first topic in this discussion group!!!

Did you check the battery on the original remote? Did you put the remote next to a portable radio and press the buttons to listen for the buzz of the signals? Put the radio between stations.

This can tell you if the original is bad.
something else I've had happen is lossing synchronization with the car. Pressing the lock and unlock buttons at the same time standing close to the car and holding for 5-10 seconds will resynchronize the remote. I believe that happened with my 98's. It'w worth a try as long as your battery is good.

Re: Remote control

The Dealer can also check to see if the remote is working. It took less then a minute and they didn't charge anything.

If you get one used, make sure it has the same numbers on the back.

One point on "Shipping" on eBay. It's not just "Shipping" but can be Shipping AND HANDLEING.

One time a friend spent half a day, drove into town ($2.75 Gallon), bought a box ($3.79+ Tax), tape, and $2.00 filler to help protect. He charged the guy $5.00 S+H. When the person got the package and saw $2.50 for postage, he left negative feedback because "He made double "profit" on the "shipping.". My friend LOST money on S+H for the benefit of the other person, and got negative feedback for "Double Profit."

I bought two different remotes for my 1997 Buick. I found out mine doesn't have remote from the factory. Let me know what numbers you need and I may be able to sell you mine that I can't use. I had them tested at the Dealer and verified they work fine. I won't rip on "Shipping" ether. Chris.
