2000 Silverado towing ?

Gang, Where is the gear ratio on the Rado's? Also if you have just the standard c1500 what consists of towing packe other than reciever? If threre is a suspension upgrade for towing can this be added later? Any suggestions, wife is inheriting a 27' camper that is 5500lbs. Thanks Kerry

Re: 2000 Silverado towing ?

Gear ratio should be listed on a placard in the glove box. Look in the owners manual for max trailer weight according to engine size and gear ratio. If you don't have an owners manual, get one. As far as suspension mods, best thing for a 27' trailer is a hitch weight distribution system with sway bar. The tow package would consist of at least, H/D cooling, oil cooler, heavier rear springs, Class 3 receiver(6000 lb), trailer wiring package, etc. Another thing you'll need is an electric brake controller and longer side mirrors...........Steve
