Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

I like the magnaflow muffler on my truck.. Stock manifolds....and a single large muffler with dual inlets and dual outlets...quasi-dual exhaust. I have a flowmaster for a little while and they sound good, but they also "resonate" sound into the cad at normal driving speed which after a while just had to stop.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

I also have a magnaflow muffler on my truck and it sounds like youd be pleased with it. There are different lengths you can choose from. The longer the quieter. Short ones are pretty loud but not annoying(thats the one i have).

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

Nope magnaflows are just right. If you can drive lightly on the gas you'll barely notice it but you can make it roar if you floor it. At idle it has a quiet little grummble that you can slightly notice but it sounds nice.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

I just put flowmaters on my truck (99 ext cab) I like the sound out side, but they are so loud in the cab. Especially running 70 mph down the road. Is this normal? Should I have gone with the magna flow?

Help

What you're hearing is the resonance. Its normal with flowmasters. Some people can live with but others cant stand it. I think there are different types of flowmasters that vary in loudness. Magnaflow doesnt resonate so its usually a good pick.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

I just had my exhaust done. I had the pipes cut up front behind the cats and run duals back into a 2.25 dual inlet and 2.50 dual outlet Vortex Classic muffler and straight out the back. The muffler sounds good when getting on the gas,but the in cab noise is too loud. It drones real bad when the overdrive kicks in. I was thinking of trying the Flowmsater 50 or 70 series, but maybe I'll try the Magnaflow. I also added the K&N 77 series cold air kit. She breathes much better now.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

I have installed a Corsa cat-back sport exhaust system on my '02 Silverado. I think it sounds great. Has a nice sound when accelerating but is nice and quiet at cruise..... just the way I wanted it.
Here is a link to hear the sounds of it starting up and a drive-away. The recording doesn't really do it justice, but gives you an idea of how it sounds on the truck. Get ready to part with about $800 bucks for the cat-back system. No drone in the cab at all... just a nice mellow sound on acceleration. During cruise you hardly hear it at all.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!

That is a 5.3 breathing through the Corsa cat-back system. By the way, if you didn't know, that is all stainless steel stuff.... pipes, muffler, clamps etc. Looks real nice and has some pretty oval polished stainless tips peeking out from under the bumper.

yes this is why I do have a flowmaster anymore. To much sound in the cab. If you want something that has a good sound under load and a moderate sound under liight throttle then magnaflow is the brand.
