Re: where is it ?

I believe with your car the chimes are located in all places your radio. I beleive thats why when someone replaces the stock headunit for an aftermarket one they suggest to relocate the stock radio to the trunk, so you can keep your chimes. Not sure how to go about fixing a falty one though.

Re: where is it ?

That problem is easily solved with the proper wiring kit. A generic kit generally won't have the right wires, but a GM specific kit will include what you need to take care of the door chimes. I had mine bought and installed at Best Buy, who, IMO, does decent work especially for a non-specializing chain store.

Re: where is it ?

For a 99 I dont think that is going to be your problem its on the 2000 models and later that they changed the chimes to go through the radio. In which case if you want to keep them you need to buy a $150 wiring harness just to keep them. But lucky for you, you should be able to just buy the $15 generic GM harness and all should be well.
