Re: silverado lower console lock
I don't think you can without breaking it. I bought my truck used and it didn't come with a key for the console. When I asked the dealer about getting a key or replacing the lock they told me I needed to buy a new lid for $160. I decided I don't need to lock the console that badly.

Re: silverado lower console lock
When I asked the douchebag at the local Chevy dealer if I could order a key he told me no. I guess it's time to try another dealer.

Re: silverado lower console lock
When I bought my truck (from saturn dealer's lot) it also did not have keys for the console or cap. The dealer agreed to include keys as part of the deal. I had to take the truck to the chevy dealer for them to read the cylinder since my vin indicated my truck did not have a console. I think the keys were $20.00 for a set.

Re: silverado lower console lock
Might try a locksmith too. I had a camper on a previous truck that I didn't have the key for. The locksmith looked up the lock # and was able to make a key from that.
If the locksmith doesn't have the ability to make a key given the # on the lock, they may be able to make one by hand. I had to have one made for a desk at work. When I saw this done, the locksmith took an alike key, inserted it and filed as needed until he got it. |

Re: silverado lower console lock
I took my 2000 to my trusty locksmith, gave them the 3 digit number off of the lock cylinder of the console, and in 10 minutes, 6 dollars later, I had a key that worked in my console lock. Simple as that. Any good locksmith should have the codes/keys for this operation. No need to buy a whole new lid or cylinder.
