on my parents 2004 chevy venture, at highway speeds, all you hear is a very annoying whistling sound, like as if there's a small opening somewhere...we have brought the van to the dealership 4 times now, they replaced the windshield, because they said it was that all free of charge, well, after the 4th time, it still whistles, and on long trips it's very very annoying..anyone know what may be causing this?

Re: windshield whistle sound
are you sure the whistle is from body sounds?
I have an '04. I get a whistle upon acceleration, and deceleration. Its the Throttle body. there was another fella on this board that had the same problem. he ended up getting his throttle body replaced (free from the dealer) and it remedied his problem. i haven't had mine changed yet, only because the radio or DVD player drowns out the noise. I'll search for the thread on the throttle body to help you out. I am not saying "GregA" is wrong, just offering another possibility |

Re: windshield whistle sound
I recently bought an 03 venture with a clean title. I have noticed a whistle in area immediately ahead of the driver's seat that sounds like someone blowing across an open pop bottle. It only seems to do it when I have a right to left cross wind with a combined vehicle and wind speed of more than 50mph. I discovered that if I turn on my wipers it stops when the blades are straight up and starts when the blades return to the bottom. Any ideas?

Re: windshield whistle sound
Welcome to AF!
When the wipers are on it probably deflects the oncoming air enough to stop making the whistling noise. There might be a small gap in the seal around the windshield that could be causing the noise when the air is coming from a certain direction/speed. In the future please start a new thread with your question rather than resurrecting an old thread. you may link to the old thread if it helps to give info about your issue. Any thread where the last post date is longer than 3 months is considered old and inactive.
