Coolant Flush help

I have a problem with my 99 grand am. I posted a message earlier in the week with the car overheating. It has the 3400 motor in it with around 89k miles on it. I replaced both the thermostat and the water pump and the car continues to overheat after driving it for about 1 mile. The car does not throw any heat so I assume there is a clog somewhere. Could someone help me with finding the drain plug on the radiator? I am not sure where it is. I would appreciate any help, because I love this car and I would like to start driving it again.

yea, you might need to go get it flushed and cleaned out...

Turbogp, did you purge alll the air out of the system when you replaced the thernostat and WP?

If you had heat before, Id bet that its the air trapped in the heater core, which can make the system not flow corectly. Thiers a bleeder valve right above the water pump. You'll need to let it run and loosen that bleeder to get teh air out. It can take some time to do this though. Also it helps to get the front of the car up on an slight incline, which will help the air move up and out.

If you get the air out, hav heat and your still over heating, might be a gasket internally bad causing it to over heat. The lower intakes are bad about blowing out, but they hardly cause over heating(unless it out of coolant)
Now a head gasket blown can make it run Hot or over heat.

But, then again, a cheap thermostat thats not working right or opening all the way can cause some overheating, and sometimes they stick shut and or open.
