INT. Lights stay on Fix

I have a 97 blazer, and for about 7-8 months the int lights would stay on sometimes or the door ajar buzzer would buzz when ever door and the back hatch is closed. It drove me crazy trying to find to the problem. I took out and tested all the switches and checked all the releys and what not, I was able to get it down the the drivers door. I spent hours tracing wires. I ended up just taking out the door pin switch. About a month ago i bought a new door pin switch and i never had a problem till tonight. I'm just driving and i hit a bump and lights come on and the door buzzer buzzs. In a lil spit of anger i kicked the kick panel and it turned off. So i thought somehting must be lose. I droped the under dash panels and i was on the search again. Once again i found nothing wrong. I sat back in the car and slamed the door and it turned off again,

than i rested me knee on the door panel and it turned back on again. "light bulb" poped in my head. I pulled the door and it turned off. I grabed my flash light and looked and the pin and the door panel w/ the door closed. The pin was just shy of hitting the door. The whole time the door panel wasn't even hitting the pin. So i grabed the offical fixer of everything, my roll of duct tape. And i stacked about 3 layers of duct on its self about the size on a quarter and put it right where the door pin meets the door, On the door. PROBLEM SOLVED

Sorry for the long story but i did see a few people have the same problem as me on here. If you guys still have this problem check that. I never would have thought about that

Re: INT. Lights stay on Fix

The door panel has a round piece on which the light switch hits when closed. If the door panel plastic retaining clips are not all pushed into their holes and the front edge of the door panel totally flush the switch will misalign. Happens alot after you take a door panel off for speakers, mirror, or window motor fixes. The headlight switch controls the automatic overhead light delay and can go bad - thats way Chevy put that override button on it - I've replaced 2 out of 4 on my 98 up Blazers.
